Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has apologised to Rafinha following confirmation that the Barcelona playmaker has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
The 22-year-old suffered the complaint following a challenge with Nainggolan in the second half of the Champions League encounter at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Belgium international has since received abuse on social networks, but insisted that he never intended to hurt the Barca player.
"I'm very sorry for the bad news, it wasn't my intention to hurt you. I hope to see you on the pitch again soon. A big hug," the 27-year-old wrote on Twitter.
It is expected that Rafinha will now be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
