Barcelona are hopeful that their captain Carles Puyol will sign a contract extension with the club.
The centre-back's current deal with the Blaugrana expires at the end of next season and the Nou Camp outfit are keen to keep the 34-year-old at the club for the rest of his career.
It is thought that Barca will offer Puyol a one-year extension with the option of a further year after that, giving the defender time to consider his options.
Last week, sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta said that the La Liga side are working on a new deal for their skipper.
"Puyol's case goes beyond a simple contract renewal, for his history at the club and what he means to it," said Zubizarreta.
"Once this week is over, we will sit down with him to find out what he thinks, what he wants and reach an agreement."
Puyol has been with Barcelona since 1999.
