Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has welcomed Barcelona's capture of Neymar and insisted that the Brazilian will help inspire homegrown talent in La Liga.
Barca confirmed a deal to sign Neymar on a five-year contract last weekend, with the move to be officially concluded on June 30 after the Confederations Cup.
Del Bosque believes that despite preferring a focus on Spanish players in La Liga a special exception must be made for Neymar, a forward he describes as an "artist" that can take the domestic game to another level.
He told Radio Marca: "I really like Neymar. He is an artist and Spanish football needs players like him.
"We should not be closing our borders for the very best. We already have players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo here, who are the best in the world."
The 21-year-old has scored 21 goals for Brazil in 32 appearances.
