Ernesto Valverde has hit out at the "absurd" decision for VAR technology to be overlooked in La Liga after Barcelona were denied what appeared to be a legitimate goal against Deportivo La Coruna.
Striker Luis Suarez had a strike ruled out late in the first half of Sunday's match at Camp Nou, which the Catalan giants went on to comfortably win 4-0.
Barca boss Valverde has questioned why video assistant referees have yet to be introduced in the Spanish top flight, however, with La Liga also the only major European league yet to roll out goal-line technology.
"I didn't see it, but with the help of technology, you'll know if the ball has gone in or not, regardless of whether the VAR is used or not," he told reporters when asked about the disallowed Suarez goal.
"I don't know why it is not used in La Liga. The equipment must be very expensive, but it's absurd that we don't have it. We're late and it shows."
Spanish football authorities hope to have VAR technology in place for the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
