Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano could reportedly be handed a four-match ban following his red card in Sunday's 3-1 win over Eibar.
The Argentine was handed a straight red card in the 83rd minute of the La Liga contest after seemingly exchanging words with the referee's assistant.
According to various reports in Spain, referee Carlos del Cerro Grande has claimed that Mascherano insulted his assistant's mother after becoming frustrated with a perceived leniency for a number of late challenges.
Football Espana claims that Mascherano is now in danger of missing El Clasico towards the end of November, citing a similar incident that occurred with Damian Suarez during his time at Elche, which brought a four-game ban.
Barcelona collected all the points at Camp Nou courtesy of a hat-trick from Luis Suarez after Borja Baston had sent the visitors ahead early on.
