Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has rejected suggestions that the club should have signed a centre-back this summer.

Defensive problems contributed to their elimination from the Champions League last season, but Zubizarreta has insisted that he is happy with the squad.

"We have the squad we wanted and one that will be able to compete extraordinarily well," he told reporters at a press conference.

"In the history of Barcelona, the signing of a centre-back has always been complicated.

"We are always focused on making the squad the best it can be and I am delighted to have the chance to do my job."

Barcelona have won each of their three La Liga matches this season.
