Barcelona won the European Super Cup for a fifth time after beating Sevilla 5-4 in the 2015 final on Tuesday.

The Catalan outfit were 1-0 down inside three minutes when Ever Banega converted a free kick, but a double from Lionel Messi and goals from Rafinha and Luis Suarez made it 4-1 Barcelona early in the second period.

Sevilla somehow recovered, however, and forced extra time when Yevhen Konoplyanka followed goals from Jose Antonio Reyes and Kevin Gameiro.

Barcelona won it in the 115th minute when Pedro, on what could be his final appearance for the Spanish club, converted from close range following a loose stop from Beto.

BARCELONA

Goal

Marc-Andre ter Stegen: Did not actually have an awful lot to do, but still conceded four times. Was left exposed by his defence, however, and cannot really be blamed directly for any of the goals. (6/10)

Defence

Dani Alves: Very impressive going forward as he linked with Messi and Suarez, but the Brazilian went missing defensively in the latter stages when Sevilla started to turn the screw. (6/10)

Javier Mascherano: Had a strong first half as he controlled matters from a deep area, but looked a player short of fitness as the match developed. Was replaced by Pedro ahead of extra-time. (6/10)

Gerard Pique: Managed to contain Gameiro in the first period, but was ultimately part of a back four that wilted under late pressure. Probably the pick of his team's back four though. (6/10)

Jeremy Mathieu: Like Alves, was pretty good in an attacking sense, but had a horror show at the back. Conceded a penalty for a pull on Vitolo and was caught out on a number of occasions. (4/10)

Midfield

Sergio Busquets: Looked very comfortable in the first half as he mopped up in front of his back four, but the Spaniard had a difficult final 30 minutes as Sevilla finally took control of the midfield. (6/10)

Ivan Rakitic: Has developed into a key player for this Barcelona side, but the Croatian was not at his best this evening. Far from a bad performance, but has played much better in pre-season. (6/10)

Andres Iniesta: Had a super 63 minutes on the field, but was eventually forced off with an injury. Barcelona's demise coincided with his absence, which made his display even more impressive. (7/10)

Attack

Rafinha: Was a surprise starter ahead of Pedro in the final third and the Brazilian-born attacker took his chance. Scored Barca's third of the match and proved a threat each time he had possession. (7/10)

Luis Suarez: Gave the Sevilla defence absolute nightmares as he set up Rafinha for Barca's third, before scoring their fourth. Faded a little late on, but still had an excellent evening. (8/10)

Lionel Messi: Once again made the difference for this Barca team as he scored two stunning free kicks in the first period. Was also directly involved in what proved to be the game's winning goal. (9/10)

Substitutes

Sergi Roberto: Was introduced in the 63rd minute to help tighten the midfield. Despite being neat and tidy in possession, he did not offer too much defensive protection. (6/10)

Marc Bartra: Was turned far too easily for Sevilla's fourth goal and did not look entirely comfortable under pressure from Unai Emery's side. Part of a poor Barcelona defence. (5/10)

Pedro: On what could be his final appearance for the Catalan outfit, proved the match-winner with his close-range finish late on. Seemingly had a point to prove after entering for extra-time. (7/10)

SEVILLA

Goal

Beto: Made a couple of decent saves, but should have done better with at least one of Messi's free kicks and was also culpable for Pedro's winner. Position is seriously under threat from Sergio Rico. (4/10)

Defence

Coke Grew into the match after a poor first half, but missed a glorious opportunity to level the scores late in extra-time when he headed wide from close range. Finished the match at centre-back. (5/10)

Adil Rami: Just about passed a late fitness test to start and the centre-back largely struggled to deal with the Barcelona attack. Did well to last the entire 120 minutes while battling illness. (6/10)

Grzegorz Krychowiak: Was one of La Liga's most impressive midfielders last season, but the Pole really struggled in the centre of the defence. Just did not look comfortable in the position. (5/10)

Benoit Tremoulinas: Conceded possession far too easily in the build-up to Barcelona's fourth, but delivered some exceptional crosses late on and proved a real menace down the left. (6/10)

Midfield

Michael Krohn-Dehli: Making his official debut, the Dane was asked to play in a deep-lying midfield role. Comfortable in possession, but did not have the legs to stop Barcelona's dominance. (5/10)

Vicente Iborra: Brought into the team to provide a presence at both ends of the field, but the Spaniard simply did not offer his back four enough protection, especially in the first half. (5/10)

Ever Banega: Opened the scoring with a stunning free kick and always looked capable of making something happen in the final third. Picked up a late booking for a challenge on Suarez. (7/10)

Attack

Jose Antonio Reyes: Struggled to make an impression for long spells of the match, but came up trumps just before the hour when he finished from close range. Left the field not long after his goal. (6/10)

Kevin Gameiro: Was a willing runner in the final third despite a lack of service for long spells. Also showed excellent composure to score his team's third goal from the penalty spot. (6/10)

Vitolo: Was one of the stars of La Liga last season and the Spaniard certainly grew into the match. Set up Reyes for Sevilla's second and won the penalty that led to their third. (6/10)

Substitutes

Yevhen Konoplyanka: Introduced for his official debut in the 68th minute and the Ukraine international levelled the scores with a cool finish in the 81st minute. Looked a real threat. (7/10)

Ciro Immobile: Would have been disappointed not to have started, but the on-loan Borussia Dortmund forward set up Sevilla's equaliser and provided good legs in the final third of the field. (7/10)

Mariano: Came on in the 80th minute for his official debut. Looked bright going forward, but conceded a poor free kick which ultimately led to Barcelona's winner in the 115th minute. (5/10)
