Andres Iniesta has said that he "would love" to make the move back to Barcelona in the future.
The 37-year-old represented the Catalan club between 1996 and 2018, progressing through the youth system before turning out for the first team on 674 occasions in all competitions.
The former Spain international is currently playing in Japan for Vissel Kobe, representing the club on 101 occasions, scoring 23 goals and registering 22 assists in the process.
Iniesta still has two years left to run on his current deal but has expressed a desire to return to Camp Nou at some stage in the future.
"I would love to return to Barcelona," he told journalist Gerard Romero on Twitch. "I would like to help the institution. There are many variables involved and it is difficult to know what will happen in the future.
"Barca is my home and I couldn't be anywhere better than there. Today I like to think a lot about playing. That's what fascinates me the most today."
Iniesta's former teammate Xavi took over as Barcelona head coach last November and has a record of seven wins, five draws and four defeats from his 16 games at the helm.
