Quique Setien has admitted that he is hopeful Barcelona can make Lionel Messi happy enough to convince him to stay at the club.
Messi scored the first goal of Setien's tenure in last month's 1-0 win over Granada and bagged another brace in the 5-0 Copa del Rey victory against Leganes in midweek.
The Argentina international is due to be out of contract at the end of next season, but Setien has stressed the importance of keeping him at Camp Nou beyond then.
"I hope we make Messi so happy that he wants to stay," he told Spanish outlet Sport.
Barcelona are currently without injured striker Luis Suarez and failed to bring in any replacements in the January transfer window, but Setien is confident that he can find a solution.
"We can play with no pure striker, with [Antoine] Griezmann or we will figure out something," he said.
Barcelona return to La Liga action with a home match against Levante on Sunday.
