Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly agreed a fee for Neymar, although there is still work to be done in order to finalise a transfer.
After the two parties met in France on Tuesday, Barca official Javier Bordas suggested that progress had been made towards a deal being concluded before September 2.
However, according to ESPN, the Catalan giants must still find a way to stump up a fee, said to be in the region of £154m.
Despite Barcelona being willing to pay that figure over a three-year period, PSG have hit back by demanding that the majority of the money be paid immediately.
That stance will likely lead to another proposal from Barcelona, who allegedly need to find a way to remain within their FFP boundaries.
Winger Ousmane Dembele - initially signed as Neymar's replacement in 2017 - is still being suggested as a possible makeweight in any deal.
