Barcelona have reportedly made a breakthrough in talks to sell Antoine Griezmann to Atletico Madrid.
The Frenchman is in the second season of a two-year loan with Atletico from Barcelona, but he has found his playing time reduced this term.
Griezmann has only been featuring in the final 30 minutes of games this season due to a clause in his loan deal that means Atletico would have to pay £35m to complete a permanent transfer if the forward plays 50% of the minutes he is available.
A recent report suggested that Barcelona felt their La Liga rivals had already triggered the buyout clause in the first year of the loan spell, and as a result, legal action was threatened.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the two clubs are close to agreeing a deal that would see Atletico sign Griezmann for a reduced £22m fee.
There is a belief that an agreement can be reached in the upcoming international break, which could help Griezmann increase his game time before the World Cup.
Despite only featuring as a substitute this term, the 31-year-old has still managed to score three goals in six appearances, including a 101st-minute winner in the Champions League against Porto last week. body check tags ::
