Robert Lewandowski is again set to lead the Barcelona attack in Sunday night's El Clasico.

The 35-year-old has been in strong form for Xavi's side during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 20 goals and registering nine assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.

Lewandowski was unable to prevent Barcelona from being eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday night.

However, the Poland international is expected to be fired-up for the return of La Liga action this weekend, as Barcelona look for the win which would move them to within five points of division leaders Real Madrid in the table.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how Lewandowski has performed against Real Madrid during his career, with the experienced striker tackling Los Blancos on a number of occasions for three different clubs.

Lewandowski has faced the capital giants 14 times during his career, boasting a record of five wins, two draws and seven defeats, scoring eight times and registering three assists in the process.

The forward's first experiences of facing Los Blancos came during his time at Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, and he famously scored four times against them in a 4-1 home success for BVB in the semi-finals of the competition back in April 2013.

Lewandowski also tackled Real Madrid three times in the Champions League during his time at Bayern Munich, but he only managed one goal in those encounters and suffered two defeats.

Only six of his 14 appearances against Real Madrid have come during his time at Barcelona, with three of those taking place in La Liga, and he is yet to score versus the capital side in Spain's top flight.

Lewandowski's La Liga record is one win and two defeats from three games against the Madrid club, including the 2-1 loss in El Clasico earlier this season.

The forward has faced Real Madrid once in the Copa del Rey, meanwhile, suffering a 4-0 loss last season, while he has netted twice and provided one assist in two Spanish Super Cup games against Los Blancos, including a goal in a 4-1 defeat to the capital outfit back in January.

Lewandowski will therefore go in search of his first La Liga goal against Real Madrid this weekend, and he will be eyeing a third success over them in a Barcelona shirt and a sixth overall.

The forward has only managed 13 league goals this season, though, which is low by his own high standards, and he has netted just once in his last five outings in Spain's top flight.
