Barcelona have had an offer for Nolito rejected by Celta Vigo, according to a report in Spain.
It is believed that Barca were prepared to meet the £13.6m release clause in the 29-year-old's contract, but not until the summer.
Instead, AS claims that the Catalans wanted to take the attacker on loan for the remaining six months of the season, before he joined them permanently.
The report adds that Celta turned down that proposal and they now expect the Spain international to see out the campaign at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos.
Nolito had a spell with Barcelona earlier in his career, but he left in May 2011 having made just five senior appearances.
