Barcelona president Joan Laporta has insisted that Ronald Koeman will not be sacked as head coach, even if the Catalan outfit lose Saturday's La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid.

Koeman's future remains the subject of much speculation, with various reports claiming that the Dutchman would be relieved of his duties over the international break.

However, Laporta has said that he is not considering sacking the head coach, with Barcelona keen to "show some confidence" in the club "legend".

"No matter the result, Koeman will continue to be the coach," Laporta told reporters. "He is a Barcelona legend and fan. We have to show some confidence.

"He became coach during a very difficult institutional and sporting moment. We all hope the situation can improve."

Barcelona have lost both of their Champions League group-stage fixtures this season but are unbeaten in their opening six La Liga matches and would go above Atletico in the table with a win at Wanda Metropolitano. body check tags ::
