Barcelona have reportedly identified Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali as a long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets.
Busquets came into the Barcelona setup 12 years ago but has lost some of his potency at the base of midfield, prompting the club to explore younger options in that area.
Tonali, meanwhile, has enjoyed a seamless transition from Serie B to Serie A this season and the 19-year-old also made his senior debut for Italy this month.
According to a report in Spain, Barcelona are among a host of top clubs interested in signing Tonali, who is currently valued around at around £20m.
Barca boss Ernesto Valverde signed Frenkie de Jong over the summer and is also said to be planning to axe midfielders Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic over the next year.
