La Liga side Barcelona have confirmed the release of 23-year-old winger Isaac Cuenca, which frees up a potential move to Deportivo La Coruna.

A Barca statement said that Cuenca was informed that he was no longer part of the club's plans and that his contract was terminated on Thursday.

"Barcelona told the player Isaac Cuenca that he is not part of the plans for the next first-team squad for technical reasons," the statement read.

"The player, after a few days of consideration, has accepted the club's proposal and both parties have agreed to today rescind the contract that ran until June 2015."

Cuenca joined Ajax on loan in January, but a knee injury cut short his spell.
