Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong reportedly turned down the offer of a 'blank cheque' from Paris Saint-Germain in order to commit his future to Barcelona.
De Jong, 21, is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in European football, with a number of clubs linked with his services throughout the second half of 2018.
At one point, it had been thought that PSG had sealed the Dutchman's signature, but Barcelona won the race in January, with the midfielder due to arrive at Camp Nou on a five-year contract this summer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, PSG offered De Jong the chance to name his own wages, but he ultimately rejected interest from the French giants to commit his future to the Spanish champions.
De Jong had been seen as a doubt for Ajax's Champions League last-16 first leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday night due to a muscular problem, but he is expected to be in the XI against the European champions.
