Inter Milan have reportedly been haggling over a £30m transfer fee with Barcelona to sign Ivan Rakitic over the January transfer window.
The Croat has been rendered surplus to requirements to Ernesto Valverde this season following the arrival of Frenkie De Jong from Ajax.
Rakitic is said to form part of a wider attempt to address a bloated squad at Barcelona, with seven midfielders competing for three midfield places.
According to Sport, Inter officials met with Barcelona to discuss Rakitic, who is valued at £30m by the La Liga champions.
Inter boss Antonio Conte is said to be keen on adding experience to his midfield in January and has also reportedly identified Nemanja Matic, whom he managed at Chelsea, as a target.
Along with Rakitic, Barcelona are said to be open to selling Arturo Vidal, Ousmane Dembele and Samuel Umtiti in the upcoming window.
