Matthijs de Ligt is edging closer to a move to Juventus, according to Ajax director of football Marc Overmars.
The 19-year-old has been left out of the Dutch champions' pre-season tour of Austria, with a move to the Italian champions for a reported fee of €66m (£59m) nearing its conclusion.
Overmars spoke to Dutch-based publication Voetbal International when he confirmed that the De Ligt transfer saga is all but complete, with Juve beating Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain to his signature.
"The end of the transfer of De Ligt is near," the 46-year-old revealed.
"We're awaiting bank guarantees because we are very strict with this at Ajax. Hopefully, things will progress, but I think there will be no further obstructions. They are Italians."
The Dutch champions have already identified replacements for the outgoing De Ligt, with Overmars confirming their interest in Club America centre-back Edson Alvarez.
