Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has accepted that the Catalan club may not be financially capable of bolstering their squad in January.
La Blaugrana have demonstrated a marked improvement in recent weeks, but they are still 10 points behind La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid having played a game more.
Barcelona continue to be linked with January moves for Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay, and while Koeman is keen to welcome new faces to the club, he has acknowledged that it may not be possible this month.
Speaking to reporters about the transfer market, the Barcelona boss said: "My position is known: we lack people, but the economic situation of the club is an influence.
"I think we all think the same. If no-one arrives, I accept it and we continue the same, but if we want more we must sign."
Fourth-placed Barcelona - who recently overcame Cornella 2-0 in the Copa del Rey - next face a trip to relegation-threatened Elche on Sunday afternoon.
