Sergio Busquets has signed a new contract extension with Barcelona until 2021.
There had been speculation that Manchester City would attempt to poach the midfielder from Camp Nou in this summer's transfer window, but Busquets has now signed on the dotted line with his Spanish club.
Via a statement on their official website, Barcelona revealed that there is an option of extending Busquets's contract until 2023, while his release clause has now been raised to £150m.
"I'm delighted by this news. The negotiations went at a normal pace and I hope everything now goes just as well, at least. What we've been doing (referring to Barca's success) is the right way to go. I've always wanted this," the Spanish international told reporters.
Busquets, who joined Barcelona in 2005 and made his first-team debut in 2008, has won six La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and four Copas del Rey during his time at Camp Nou.
