Barcelona manager Xavi has reportedly identified two ideal defensive signings for the Blaugrana in 2022.

The Catalan giants - despite their financial difficulties - are on the verge of completing a big-money deal for Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres.

However, Xavi is facing uncertainty surrounding a couple of his defensive names, with right-back Sergino Dest being strongly linked with an exit next year.

According to Sport, Barca are looking to move for current Ajax right-back Noussair Mazraoui as a possible replacement for Dest, with contact already being made with agent Mino Raiola.

On the opposite side of defence, the report adds that Valencia's Jose Gaya is also a target, with Xavi starting to plan for life without Jordi Alba.

Dest is believed to be on the radar of Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester City amid links with a move elsewhere. body check tags ::
