Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe has been forced to withdraw from France's November World Cup 2022 qualifiers due to injury.
The centre-back played the full 90 minutes of his side's Champions League draw with RB Leipzig on Wednesday and gave away the last-minute penalty which saw Dominik Szoboszlai equalise.
Kimpembe's selection for the France team raised eyebrows given his struggles this term, and manager Didier Deschamps admitted that the 26-year-old could improve some aspects of his game following the squad announcement.
However, the French Football Federation have now revealed that Kimpembe suffered a hamstring injury following the clash with Leipzig and will not be available to face Kazakhstan or Finland.
As a result, Barcelona's Lenglet has been called up to replace his stricken teammate, in spite of calls for William Saliba or Maxence Lacroix to be included instead.
PSG have also confirmed that Kimpembe's injury will render him unavailable for Saturday's Ligue 1 encounter with Bordeaux. body check tags ::
