Chris O'Grady has given Sheffield Wednesday a 1-0 lead at half time of their Yorkshire derby against Barnsley this afternoon.
The hosts tested Chris Kirkland after just over 10 minutes when Stephen Dawson's fine strike from 20-yards out stung the palms of the Wednesday keeper.
Chris Lines provided Wednesday with their first clear chance, floating a free kick over to Gary Madine, but the striker glanced his header just wide.
The Owls took the lead 10 minutes from time when Lewis Buxton's cross eluded Luke Steele to find O'Grady at the back post, allowing the striker to drive it in.
Barnsley looked to respond immediately and came close to doing so when Marcus Tudgay headed towards goal, but his effort went just over the bar.
If everything stays the same, Wednesday would move off the bottom of the table and level on points with today's opponents.
