Adama Ba scored the only goal of the game as Bastia edged to a 1-0 victory over Bordeaux in Ligue 1 this evening.
The visitors were the first to come close when Andre Biyogo Poko fired a shot towards the top corner from the middle of the area, only to see his effort go just wide.
Bastia's first real sight of goal came 10 minutes later when Sebastien Squillaci rose highest in the box to nod Ba's cross towards the top right corner, but the keeper was equal to the effort.
Squillaci was again denied by Cedric Carrasso in the 17th minute, while Bordeaux missed a couple of openings of their own shortly afterwards, Lucas Orban and Diego Rolan failing to hit the target.
The opening goal came just three minutes before half time as Bastia broke quickly and Florian Raspentino found Ba, who fired his effort into the top right corner from inside the box.
Bordeaux threatened an equaliser in the second half and almost got it in the 65th minute when Guillaume Hoarau let fly from outside the box, but his effort was well saved.
That was to be the last of the chances in the match as Bastia held out for a win that sees them move up to 12th in the table.
