Julien Feret's second-half wonder-strike earned Caen a point as they held Bastia to a 1-1 draw at the Stade Michel d'Ornano in Ligue 1 this evening.
Bastia took the lead with the game's first chance as Francois Kamano headed in from close range following a set-piece situation.
The away side should have doubled their advantage a matter of seconds after the opener when Sebastien Squillaci saw his header crash back off the crossbar, after Remy Vercoutre did well to keep out Guillaume Gillet's initial attempt.
Caen enjoyed much of the possession in the second half and they eventually levelled through Feret, who produced an unstoppable effort from distance that flew into the bottom corner of Alphonse Areola's goal.
Feret might well have won the game for the hosts had he kept his cool in the closing stages of injury time, but he instead blasted over the bar from the centre of the box.
