Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly revealed that Jeremie Frimpong, or any of their current first-team players, are up for sale this January.
Xabi Alonso's side are currently four points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga, following the club's best start to a season in their history.
The club's form has sparked rumours about the futures of some of their key players, including Frimpong, as well as Florian Wirtz and Exequiel Palacios in particular.
However, Leverkusen look set to stand firm against interest in their players, by refusing to let anybody leave during the winter window.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Leverkusen's stance on Frimpong is very clear, in that they have no intention to sell the full-back, or any other player in January.
The report states that the top clubs around Europe want Frimpong, but the only realistic opportunity of the Dutchman leaving is in the summer.
Nevertheless, that does not dispel the chance of Frimpong leaving over the summer, as the report states that a €40m (£34.5m) release clause will become active in June.
Given that the buyout clause is not active during the winter window though, means that Frimpong is likely to stay at the BayArena for the rest of the season.
The Dutch right wing-back has played a pivotal role for Alonso's side this season, especially in attack so far.
After contributing to 19 goals in all competitions for Leverkusen last season, Frimpong has stepped his game up this campaign in the red and black of Bayer.
With just one half of the season played, Frimpong already has seven goals and nine assists, and based on his performances so far, there will be no doubt that the 23-year-old will surpass his figures from last season.
Even though it now appears likely that Alonso will not go to Real Madrid, after Carlo Ancelotti signed a new contract with Los Blancos, the money in the Premier League could tempt Frimpong into making way.
Frimpong should return to action when Leverkusen travel to Augsburg following the end of the Bundesliga's winter break next weekend. body check tags ::
