Former Netherlands midfielder Boudewijn Zenden is currently training with Bayer Leverkusen as he continues to search for a new club.
The 36-year-old has been without a club since leaving Sunderland last summer, but he is not expected to be offered a deal by the German outfit.
"I recently asked Sami [Hyypia] if I could join the team for training. Now, I am going to keep up my fitness by training with Bayer Leverkusen for about a week," Zenden told Bild.
"I am very thankful I have been granted the opportunity to do so. I live in Maastricht actually, so this is also a perfect fit in this respect."
Zenden made 54 appearances for his country.
