Bayern Munich have reportedly asked Sami Khedira to run down his contract with Real Madrid.
The German international's current deal at the Bernabeu is due to expire next summer, when he would become a free agent.
He has been strongly linked in recent weeks with Arsenal, but it has been claimed that the Premier League side baulked at the 27-year-old's wage demands.
However, Bundesliga champions Bayern are prepared to meet Khedira's financial requirements, but only if they are able to secure his services without the requirement of a transfer fee, according to Marca.
The report adds that Madrid are keen to offload the midfielder before the end of the current transfer window.
