Sports Mole

After beginning the Arnold Clark Cup with a victory, Belgium Women will look to claim three more points when they face South Korea Women on Sunday.

South Korea, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 4-0 defeat to European champions England.

Match preview

Belgium are currently level on three points with England after they claimed a dramatic 2-1 victory over Italy on Thursday.

Marie Detruyer opened the scoring in the 16th minute, before Italy levelled just after the hour mark through Manuela Giugliano.

With the game heading towards a draw, Tessa Wullaert proved to be Belgium's hero, scoring a 90th-minute winner to get her nation off to a victorious start in the Arnold Clark Cup.

The Belgian Red Flames have now won three of their last four games, including both of their last two matches.

Although they failed to qualify for the 2023 World Cup, Belgium will be keen to claim a third consecutive victory across all internationals on Sunday.

Meanwhile, South Korea enjoyed a five-game unbeaten run before they face England in their opening game of the Arnold Clark Cup.

Colin Bell's side managed to keep the tournament hosts at bay for the majority of the first half until they gave away a penalty in the 40th minute

Georgia Stanway stepped up to dispatch the spot kick, and South Korea's hopes of claiming a positive result were ended within the opening 20 seconds of the second half as Chloe Kelly doubled England's advantage.

Further goals from Alessia Russo and Lauren James condemned South Korea to a heavy 4-0 defeat, and they will be looking for a response in their next two fixtures against Belgium and Italy.

After conceding only two goals in their five games prior to the England defeat, South Korea will be hoping to rediscover that defensive resilience on Sunday.

Team News

Belgium boss Ives Serneels could name an unchanged back four, with Sari Kees set to continue her central defensive partnership with Laura De Neve, while Janice Cayman and Fran Meersman are expected to operate as the two full-backs.

After coming off the bench to score a late winner against Italy, Wullaert may be rewarded with a place in the lineup.

Detruyer opened the scoring in Thursday's victory, and she is expected to retain her place alongside Justine Vanhaevermaet and Julie Biesmans in the centre of midfield.

As for South Korea, Bell is expected to keep faith with the back three of Kim Hye-ri, Hong Hye-ji and Lim Seon-joo.

Park Ye-eun could come into the side to partner her Brighton & Hove Albion teammate Lee Geum-min in the centre of midfield.

Son Hwa-yeon will retain her place up front, and she will be hoping for more chances to come her way than they did against England.

Belgium Women possible starting lineup:
Evrard; Cayman, Kees, De Neve, Meersman; Janssens, Detruyer, Vanhaevermaet, Biesmans, Dhont; Wullaert

South Korea Women possible starting lineup:
J M Kim; H R Kim; Hong, Lim; Choo, Y E Park, G M Lee, Jang; Kang, Choe, Son

We say: Belgium Women 1-1 South Korea Women

After having just 20% of possession for the defeat to England, we think that South Korea will be able to offer a better account of themselves against Belgium, and we think a closely-contested match will result in the spoils being shared.
