Belgium captain Vincent Kompany has declared that he is "proud" after his team defeated Israel 3-1 in Euro 2016 qualifying to guarantee their place at the top of the next FIFA world rankings.
Marc Wilmots's side had already reached the finals ahead of their final Group B match, but qualified as group winners thanks to their victory over the Israelis.
"We remain realistic, but also a bit chauvinistic. We are the number one in the world and the Netherlands are out. And to think that I have seen times when we were 80th," he told Sporza
"Seriously, though, that is football. Sometimes you have a dip, but talent will always prevail. It has worked out well here in Belgium and we are ready for what is to come."
Wales claimed the runners-up spot in Group B after seeing off against Andorra.
