How Belgium could line up against Portugal

Sports Mole looks at how Belgium could line up in Sunday's Euro 2020 contest against Portugal.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has a number of big decisions to make when it comes to team selection for Sunday's last-16 clash with Portugal at Euro 2020.

Dedryck Boyata is expected to start alongside Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen at the back, while Romelu Lukaku is certain to lead the line for the Red Devils, who have won all three of their games in the tournament thus far.

Martinez must decide whether to select Kevin De Bruyne in a deeper midfield position or release him up the field, with the Manchester City attacker potentially joining Eden Hazard as part of a front three with Lukaku.

Youri Tielemans was an unused substitute against Finland on June 21 but will be back in the side for this match, with Axel Witsel also set to feature in midfield.

The margins on Sunday are likely to be thin, and neither manager will want to give up space to the opposition, so it might well come down to which front three plays the better football on the night.

Belgium will again line up with wing-backs for this match; Thomas Meunier is line to start on the right, but Martinez has a decision to make on the left, with Thorgan Hazard and Yannick Carrasco in direct competition.

A role for De Bruyne further forward would mean a spot on the bench for Dries Mertens, while the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Christian Benteke will also be in reserve for the Red Devils on Sunday night.

Belgium possible starting lineup: Courtois; Alderweireld, Boyata, Vertonghen; Meunier, Tielemans, Witsel, T Hazard; E Hazard, Lukaku, De Bruyne
