Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen has revealed that it will be the duty of every player in his side to stop Lionel Messi in their World Cup quarter-final showdown with Argentina.
The Barcelona forward has notched four goals in the tournament and made the pivotal assist against Switzerland to allow Angel di Maria to fire Alejandro Sabella's men into the last eight.
Vertonghen is adamant that his side have the quality to stop the 27-year-old, but is wary of the other talented players in the Argentina lineup.
He is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: "We will stop Messi as a team. We won't put one player on him, that's not our style and he is too good to do that.
"He is not the only danger but obviously he is one of the best players in the world, maybe the best, but we are strong enough to keep him quiet."
Belgium take on Argentina on Saturday in their last-eight clash in Brasilia.
