Real Betis boss Pepe Mel has said that there is "zero chance" of Dani Osvaldo joining the Spanish club on a free transfer this summer.
The 29-year-old is currently available on a free transfer after leaving Southampton, and Betis are one of a number of clubs that have been linked with a move.
Mel, however, has conceded that the Argentine's signing would not make financial sense as he attempts to bolster his squad for the new campaign.
"He has zero chance of arriving. We'd be beating around the bush [if we tried]. I know that the lad has made efforts to play for Betis, but even then he'd still be unattainable for us," Mel told AS.
"With Osvaldo, we can't afford to spend our entire budget on him because then the [other] gaps [in the squad] will be left as they are. The money must be distributed for all positions we need [to reinforce]."
Osvaldo, who has had recent loan spells with Juventus, Inter Milan and Boca Juniors, has also been strongly linked with a move to Porto.
