Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton said that his side "had two results today" as they beat Club Brugge and also got the all-clear after defender Pablo Ibanez had received a head injury.
Chris Wood's winner came in the seventh minute of injury time after Ibanez had been stretchered off when he clashed heads with opposition striker Joseph Akapala.
"We've had two results today," said Hughton. "One is the scoreline and the other is the fact he is okay. It showed great professionalism to do what we did after a stoppage of six minutes.
"We feared the worst, as you always do with incidents like that when it is always a real concern, but fortunately it usually works out okay and thankfully it did today.
"We're delighted for him. He had a very good game and also thinks he scored the winner!"
The win has moved the Championship side to the top of Group H.
