Bolton Wanderers lead 1-0 at half time against Birmingham City, thanks to Jermaine Beckford's first goal of the season.
There was a break in play early on when Tom Adeyemi went down in the middle. The Birmingham man was able to continue, though, and helped his side to create a few early chances.
Chris Burke forced an early corner with a good run and shot, before a David Murphy free kick was defended by Bolton.
Then against the run of play in the 12th minute, the visitors took the lead. Dan Burn failed to deal with a long ball, allowing Beckford to run clear and slot past the goalkeeper.
The hosts responded quite well, with Burke finding space and whipping a couple of crosses into the box, but on both occasions Matt Green was unable to make decisive contact.
Burke was a threat to the away side right until the end of the half but unfortunately for Birmingham, none of his teammates provided much support and they are behind at the break.
