Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool share a point following goals from Gary MacKenzie and Jordan Rhodes.

Blackburn Rovers managed to salvage a point against Blackpool in the Lancashire derby courtesy of a second-half strike from Jordan Rhodes.

Blackburn were the stronger side in the first half, creating chances through David Dunn, whose early opportunity was comfortably saved by Matt Gilks.

Grant Hanley had the best chance to break the deadlock in the first half, but the Rovers player was left with his head in his hands when his effort went wide.

Blackpool also had an opportunity to get the first goal of the game through Matt Derbyshire, whose headed effort from a Thomas Ince corner fired over the bar.

After the break, Blackburn continued on the front foot and could have found the breakthrough with Josh King, whose eight-yard shot bounced over the crossbar after the home side were gifted the ball from a weak Derbyshire backpass.

Minutes later, Blackpool's Ludovic Sylvestre's shot needed saving by Jake Kean, but shortly after the Seasiders were celebrating when Gary Mackenzie tucked in the ball from close range following a rebound from the goalkeeper.

Blackburn responded through Rhodes, who nicked his 21st goal of the season with a header as Gilks failed to grab the ball after rushing out from his line.

The home side fought to snatch a winning goal but it wasn't to be as Blackpool and Blackburn remain in 14th and 15th place respectively.
