James Vaughan has scored a 44th-minute header to give Huddersfield Town a 2-1 half-time lead over fellow Championship high-flyers Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
The visitors took the lead against the run of play when Lee Novak broke the offside trap before holding off the challenge of Alex Baptiste and firing low into the bottom corner.
Midfielder Danny Ward went close to doubling their advantage but his powerful shot across goal went narrowly wide of the post.
Ian Holloway's hosts then equalised courtesy of ex-Terriers forward Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who smartly guided Thomas Ince's pull-back goalwards after excellent build-up play from the England Under-21 international.
However, as the whistle approached, Norwich City loanee Vaughan restored Huddersfield's advantage when his close-range header flew in past Matt Gilks.
Both side's have started the season well, with the Tangerines targeting top spot with a win tonight, while Town can climb above their opponents into second with victory on the South Coast.
