Paul Ince: 'More obstacles for black managers'

Paul Ince states that black managers have to work 'extra hard' in order to be selected to take charge of football clubs.

Paul Ince believes that black managers must overcome 'more obstacles' to be considered for managerial roles.

The former MK Dons and Blackpool boss has been out of work since leaving the Tangerines in January 2014.

Speaking to The Times, Ince stated that the colour of his skin may have prevented him from taking charge of clubs since then.

He said: "A lot of managers get jobs and I think, 'Why are they getting jobs before me?' It's not in the forefront of my mind, but when I sit here thinking 'Why am I not working?' my skin colour could be a factor.

"My win ratio's very good for the budgets I've had, but I've been out for a year now. There's something either wrong with me, my agent, or it's something else.

"I just think that black people, not just black managers, have to work extra, extra hard. We have to climb over more obstacles to get jobs. We don't really get time to work, and are judged straight away."

Ince became the first black manager in the Premier League when he took charge at Blackburn Rovers in 2008.
