Blackpool have terminated Jacob Murphy's loan from Norwich City a month early after the player sent a snapchat photo message saying that the club would lose before kickoff on Sunday.
A leaked photo message from the 19-year-old winger, which was a selfie with the caption "We are going to lose... Again", was released earlier this week.
Murphy has since apologised over the incident, but Blackpool have decided not to keep him despite two goals in eight appearances.
"Jacob is a talented player with a bright future ahead of him and his recent actions should not detract from that," Tangerines boss Lee Clark told the club website.
"However, he realises that he made an error of judgement and understands why we have come to this decision.
"The players and the team need to be fully focused on our fight to stay in the Championship."
Blackpool would end up drawing the game against fellow strugglers Rotherham United. They are nine points adrift of safety going into the New Year.
