Bolton Wanderers prevented an FA Cup upset by seeing off Macclesfield Town in a third-round replay this evening.
First-half goals from Kevin Davies and Martin Petrov handed the Trotters victory at the Reebok Stadium.
Davies, who has struggled to make appearances in Owen Coyle's Premier League XI, opened the scoring after just 37 seconds by converting Ivan Klasnic's centre.
The home side failed to impose themselves after the quick start but did double their lead after 26 minutes when Petrov emphatically finished after being sent clear by Tuncay.
In the second period the League Two visitors had the better of the chances and should've at the very least got on the scoresheet with Matt Hamshaw, Waide Fairhurst and Colin Daniel guilty of squandering opportunities.
Coyle's men next host Swansea City in an all-Premier League fourth-round fixture.
