Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that the players have not been paid for November due to a "short-term funding issue".
The Championship outfit, who are £172.9m in debt, are currently in the process of takeover talks as owner Eddie Davies intends to sell his share in the club.
Trevor Birch was recently appointed as an advisor and is hopeful of resolving the payment issue as soon as possible.
A statement from Bolton said: "Bolton Wanderers Football Club can today, Monday, November 30, confirm that the first team playing squad are yet to receive their wages for the month of November. This is due to the ongoing situation surrounding the club's ownership off the field."
Birch added: "This is due to a short-term funding issue. We are working hard behind the scenes and hope to have this resolved in a quick and timely manner and I will be meeting the players tomorrow to update them."
Bolton are at the bottom of the league table, five points adrift of safety.
