Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba is in a "critically ill condition" in intensive care at the Heart Attack Centre of the London Chest Hospital, the hospital has confirmed.
The 23-year-old was rushed to the medical facility after collapsing during his side's FA Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday evening. The game was abandoned at half time following the incident.
Medical staff attempted to resuscitate the former England Under-21 international on the pitch before taking him away in an ambulance to the nearby hospital.
"Bolton Wanderers can confirm that Fabrice Muamba has been admitted to the Heart Attack Centre at the London Chest Hospital where he is in a critically ill condition in intensive care," read a joint statment from the Premier League club and the hospital.
He was originally said to be in a stable condition before this latest development.
