Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stuart Holden has said that he is looking forward to putting in the hard work in order to return to action.
The 26-year-old was initially ruled out for six months after he picked up a knee injury against Manchester United. However, a routine operation revealed more damage which will keep him out until the new year.
"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't devastated and in that deep, dark hole for a couple of weeks," he told talkSPORT. "I initially thought I'd be going in for a routine operation.
"Once I got over that hump, it was back to me and being positive and getting back on the pitch.
"I've done everything I can do so far in rehab, I've really got my head back on straight and I'm actually looking forward to doing the work because I know once I get back it'll all have been worth it."
Bolton signed the American from Houston Dynamo in 2009.
