Neil Lennon was left smiling after his two new recruits combined to earn Bolton Wanderers a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers in the Championship on Boxing Day.
The Trotters manager brought in veteran strikers Eidur Gudjohnsen and Emile Heskey, both 36, on free transfers in December to bolster his goal-shy strike force.
Gudjohnsen supplied substitute Heskey with the winning goal at the Macron Stadium, and Lennon feels that his signing of the pair has now been justified.
"Only Gudjohnsen could see that pass and I thought Heskey was awesome when he came on," he told reporters.
"It is a great story because maybe people have been laughing about us bringing these two guys in."
Gudjohnsen and Heskey have scored 165 Premier League goals in 726 games between them.
