Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that Sammy Lee has returned to the club as head of the academy.
The 53-year-old Lee was assistant to Sam Allardyce at the Reebok Stadium before going on to become the manager in 2007.
That spell ended later that year and Lee went on to become a coach at Liverpool under Rafael Benitez.
However, the former midfielder has now moved back to the Trotters.
"I know Sammy will bring a great deal of top level coaching experience and a great deal of enthusiasm, and that can only be of huge benefit for our youth players," Bolton boss Owen Coyle told the club's official website.
Lee will take up his new role with immediate effect.
