David McGoldrick salvaged a point for Ipswich Town as the Tractor Boys held Bolton Wanderers to a 1-1 draw at the Reebok Stadium in the Championship today.
Mick McCarthy's men should have taken the lead mid-way through the opening 45 minutes, as goalkeeper Andy Lonergan - deputising for the injured Adam Bogdan - produced a smart save to deny Manchester United loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe from opening the scoring.
The Trotters soon developed a foothold in proceedings, with Jermaine Beckford in particular proving a menace.
The former Leeds United hitman swivelled on the edge of area before rifling narrowly wide of Dean Gerken's post.
Dougie Freedman's men took the lead mid-way through the second half through Medo Kamara, whose perfectly weighted free kick nestled in the corner.
The visitors soon drew level, as McGoldrick received Paul Anderson's cut-back before volleying past Lonergan from the edge of the area.
Buoyed by the equaliser, McCarthy's men sought a winner, with McGoldrick proving the source of much of the danger as the 25-year-old attempted another volley but Lonergan was equal to it on this occasion.
Neil Danns nearly stole all three points for the hosts in the dying embers, but Gerken tipped over to deny the Trotters.
