Bolton Wanderers manager Neil Lennon has revealed that he is hopeful of signing defender Jose Manuel Casado on a free transfer.
The left-back has been without a club since leaving relegated La Liga side Almeria at the end of last season.
Lennon says that he has been tracking the 29-year-old for some time, and is keen to now get a deal over the line following his side's slow start to the Championship campaign.
"We're hoping to get a deal done for Jose Casado," the Scotsman told reporters. "He's a very good player who I became aware of at Celtic. He's a very good defender. He had a bad injury but is over it now and will help strengthen the squad.
"We're having to find good free transfers to make us better. We think we've done that. It's a gamble, but any transfer is a gamble."
Casado, a former Barcelona youth prospect, has previously spent time at Sevilla, Rayo Vallecano and Malaga.
