A statement on Bolton Wanderers' official website has confirmed that a loan move for Cardiff City forward Joe Mason has fallen through.
The 22-year-old agreed to join Bolton on loan at the beginning of the week, but it is understood that Cardiff pulled the plug on the deal due to their lack of options in attack.
"Joe Mason will remain with Cardiff City following talks between Dougie Freedman and Cardiff boss Malky Mackay yesterday (Monday) evening," read the statement.
"It was at the Cardiff manager's request that the striker remained in South Wales."
A number of other clubs had also been linked with his services.
