Nice moved into 16th in Ligue 1 with a 2-1 win over Bordeaux on Saturday.
It was the away side who conjured the first opportunity of the match after nine minutes when Kafoumba Coulibaly struck an effort from distance, but Cedric Carrasso was on hand to push the ball to safety.
Nice took the lead after 18 minutes when Michael Ciani felled Anthony Mounier in the area, and Luciano Monzon stepped up to send the away side ahead.
It was Bordeaux who dominated possession, but Nice made it 2-0 after 39 minutes when Abraham Gneki Guie found the bottom corner with a low strike.
The home side continued to dominate the ball in the second period, and Nicolas Maurice-Belay so nearly cut the deficit to 2-1, but his effort just missed the post.
The home side did find the net after 67 minutes, however, when Marc Planus found the bottom corner after a cross from Ciani.
Bordeaux searched for an equaliser in the latter stages and came close with an effort from Ludovic Obraniak, but to avail, as Nice held on to secure a welcome three points in their fight for survival.
